About
Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration is an evidence based approach to nervous system healing and recovery. By reminding the body of the genetic predetermined pathways present in early development, we can encourage adaptive synaptogenesis, remyelination, and homeostasis in the autonomic nervous system. This method was orginally developed for children with neurological challenges, but provides groundbreaking healing in the adult nervous system as well. This is a hands on neuromanipulation bodywork therapy. It is a clothed therapy that takes place on a massage table. There are several treatments that are passive, intentional, and effective, with techniques to manipulate and move the: skin, fascia, tendon golgi bodies, and ligaments. These techniques stimulate the brain’s sensory and proprioceptive receptors, first giving the brain information that the body is safe and protected, and then reminding the body of its own internal mechanisms available to create ease in daily life. This method works behind the scenes with the body’s own developmental nervous system to strengthen efficient and useful internal self regulatory mechanisms while restructuring how the body deals with chronic stress.
This method is effective in helping the body cope with: PTSD and C-PTSD, as well as anxiety, depression, ADHD, physical and emotional trauma, and Autism. Learn more at masgutovamethod.com.
Session Information
Passive Stress Resilience
I generally begin therapy with whole body somatic stress recovery protocols designed to teach the brain and body how to feel safe in your skin and deactivate the deep protective tendon shortening response present in most chronically stressed bodies. These are passive bodywork or massage therapy sessions involving pressure, tendon and joint techniques, and fascial release.
Self-Led Exercises
For those interested, there are many standing and seated exercises that I can teach for individuals that want to continue therapy at home, or have circumstances or sensitivity around physical touch to start.
Active Restructuring
Once safety and connection has begun, we may do some simple active reflex exercises with gentle isometric or isotonic resistance to give your brain solid information on how to stay protected, heal, and engage with life by using its own developmental scaffolding more efficiently.
Accessibility
I do my best to provide accessible services wherever possible. This may look like sliding scale rates, home visits, or zoom sessions. Please ask me about any physical, financial, or additional accommodations that may encourage access.
Francesca Vaughan
I am a neuroeducator and manual bodywork therapist. I am a licensed Massage Therapist, MNRI Core Specialist, and I have a degree in neurophysiology with minor focus in psychology and biological anthropology/human evolution. I studied at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, the Northwest Academy for the Healing Arts, and have extensive continuing education primarily through the Svetlana Masgutova Educational Institute for MNRI and the Embody Lab for somatic therapeutic training. As someone with a neurodivergent brain and complex trauma, I have a personal connection to uncovering evidence based methods that truly allow for and scientifically encourage recovery and healing.
